Reflection

Emily Harper has spent twenty years building a shield. After surviving a violent childhood, years in the underbelly of a city, and a devastating addiction, Emily is finally eleven months clean. She has a quiet apartment, a steady job, and a persona named Em-a tough, unyielding woman who doesn't feel, doesn't flinch, and definitely doesn't cry. Em kept her alive when she needed to be hard. But now that Emily is sober, the silence in her head is becoming deafening. When she purchases an antique vanity to anchor her new, stable life, she discovers a terrifying rift in her reality. In the glass, her reflection is a half-second slow. The woman staring back isn't the hardened Em, but Lena-the soft, vulnerable girl she buried to survive. As Lena begins to assert herself, Emily finds herself unraveling. Her past is no longer just a memory; it is a physical presence vying for control of her body. Em is terrified that if Lena returns, the crushing weight of their buried trauma-the shame, the violence, the secrets-will destroy them both. Emily must decide if the safety of her constructed identity is worth the cost of losing her soul, or if the only way to survive is to finally look in the mirror and face the woman she was always meant to be. Reflection is a haunting, intimate, and claustrophobic psychological thriller that questions the price of survival and the terror of finally becoming whole.
