Return the Rain

What if hurting a stranger is the only way to save the person you love most? Drought has reigned in the land of Durr ever since the Unicorns returned to the Kingdom in the Sky, taking the Water Sprites with them. But now, in the eighteenth year since the Unicorns departed, the people await the prophesied princess who will bring back the rain and heal their land. Zephyr Kharlamova stopped worrying about the Prophecy the day her mentor died and left her in charge of a Circus made up entirely of half-magical beings. Tensions mount as rumors begin to circulate that she is connected to the Unicorns who caused Durr's drought. When two performers are murdered by a group of magic-haters, leaving Zephyr as the guardian of their baby daughter, she knows it will take a miracle to keep Circus Mutante together. Giovanni Levina should have listened to his mother. She warned him that humans would exploit his rainmaking abilities, and after being kidnapped by a Circus of half-humans, he agrees. But when word reaches him that his mother has fallen ill, he knows his only option is to convince the Circus's new Ringmaster, Zephyr, to return home with him and use her mysterious healing abilities to save his mother's life. As the date of the Prophecy's fulfillment draws nearer, Giovanni and Zephyr's competing desires to care for those they love threaten to destroy more than the Circus.
