Still haunted by the death of his uncle and the mysterious disappearance of a girlfriend ten years earlier, Oscar Shufflebottom is adrift, befuddled and stuck in a humdrum and nonsensical office job. But after forming an intense and fateful bond with his enigmatic colleague, Stephen Howman, his life suddenly begins to change. An abrupt career upheaval leads to an unexpected offer of work experience at an elusive detective agency run by the hard-bitten PI, Quint.
