Tales of Reversal

Book-One in the "Tales of Reversal" collection of female-led tales from both past and future opens first with a tale from Victorian London, then moves forward to a misadventure of reversal in the present. First up is Sandrine Bessancort's "A Scandal in Bohemia Revisited", and her re-imagining of a Sherlock Holmes we have not been shown before. A man and Victorian detective of great intellect who has proved, until now, emotionally impervious to the all too human emotion of passion and is about to experience it for the very first time… And with a power altogether too much for a man unused to such... NEED. We follow this with a tale from the present in Frederick Hambling's "Chattel"; his description of a man in desperate straits offered a lifeline by his Indian neighbour. A lifeline that will enable him to keep the home he loves after losing his wife to a lesbian lover and his career soon after. The proposition from his female neighbour involving a period in her own home functioning as a live-in servant… And doing so in exactly the same way as a servant from her own land! Believable female-led fantasy fiction for the reader who enjoys the exercise of the imagination.
