Sean McMeekin insegna Storia al Bard College, New York. Ha scritto, tra l'altro: July 1914: Countdown to War; The Russian Origins of the First World War (Norman B. Tomlinson Jr. Book Prize e nominato al Lionel Gelber Prize) e The Berlin-Baghdad Express: The Ottoman Empire and Germany's Bid for World Power, 1898-1918 (Barbara Jelavich Book Prize). Precedentemente ha insegnato all'Università Koç di Istanbul, all'Università Bilkent di Ankara e alla Yale University. Per Einaudi ha pubblicato Il crollo dell'Impero ottomano. La guerra, la rivoluzione e la nascita del moderno Medio Oriente. 1908-1923 (2017).
