Janet Fitch vive a Los Angeles, dove tiene seminari di scrittura presso l’University of Southern California. Pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1999, Oleandro bianco ha riscosso un enorme successo negli Stati Uniti ed è stato pubblicato in 22 paesi. Dal romanzo è stato tratto, nel 2002, l’omonimo film con Michelle Pfeiffer e Renée Zellweger. Nel 2007 il Saggiatore ha pubblicato il romanzo Paint It Black.
