Aidan Higgins

(Celbridge, Kildare, 1927) scrittore irlandese. Esordisce sotto gli auspici di Beckett con i racconti di Felo de se (1960). Sullo sfondo del paesaggio irlandese il suo primo romanzo, ascrivibile al genere del big house novel, dipinge la storia di un casato, che diviene metafora della storia irlandese (Una tarda estate, Langrishe, go down, 1966; adattato per la televisione dal regista H. Pinter). E ancora quel paesaggio è il fondale dei tre volumi che compongono la sua autobiografia dai toni sperimentali: Anni da asino (Donkey’s years, 1995, nt), Giorni da cani (Dog days, 1998, nt) e Tutto il maiale (The whole hog, 2000, nt), successivamente raccolti in Bestiario (Bestiary, 2004). Ma, nella tradizione dei grandi scrittori irlandesi, H. si muove anche per l’Europa, teatro di Lampi d’inverno...
