Include rare outtakes dagli archivi Columbia Records, registrazioni effettuate durante serate nei club, in piccoli incontri informali, negli appartamenti di amici e in jam session in ritrovi di musicisti ormai scomparsi. Il cofanetto Deluxe su 8 CD presenta 139 brani – 48 performance mai pubblicate prima, oltre a 38 rarità assolute, e include un libro cartonato con ampie note a cura di Sean Wilentz e oltre 100 fotografie rare. Gli ultimi due dischi del cofanetto contengono la registrazione completa e inedita dello storico concerto di Dylan alla Carnegie Hall del 1963, mixata dai nastri originali.
