Scrittore inglese di origine norvegese. Lavorò in Africa e fu pilota della RAF durante la Seconda guerra mondiale. Si trasferì poi negli Stati Uniti dove scrisse racconti, romanzi e libri per ragazzi di grande successo internazionale.
