Geovani Martins è nato a Rio de Janeiro nel 1991. È cresciuto con la madre in un quartiere povero a sud di Rio. Ha smesso di studiare abbastanza presto e si è guadagnato da vivere lavorando come uomo-sandwich e vendendo bibite sulla spiaggia. Il suo talento di scrittore è stato scoperto in occasione del Flup, il festival letterario delle favelas di Rio. Chico Buarque è rimasto subito conquistato dalle sue doti di narratore. Il sole in testa è il suo primo libro, pubblicato in Italia da Mondadori nel 2019.
