King of Scars: return to the epic fantasy world of the Grishaverse, where magic and science collide

3.5/5 king of scars was a great insight in the lives of the charcters we already loved after the civil war and the appearance of the jurda parem. i enjoyed reading more about them, but i have to admit that sometimes this book didnt make me want to know what happened next. it mostly happened in the first 150 pages (not counting nina's chapters) and, like, those are many pages! surely thats a point in disfavour of it along with the fact that it's totally dependent by the previous books of the grishaverse. Even though i liked it, i would have maybe preferred a story more on its own, something newer, maybe with just some references to alina and the crows' adventures. as someone who thought the darkling's story should've ended with the end of the first trilogy, where he is the main villain, i found unnecessary his power being still so present in the plot, apart from the monster inside nikolai, that would've obviously been talked about and adressed in what should be his book. + even though it was the one i liked the most and i was happy to read it, nina's story seemed completely disconnected from the rest of the book.

Avevo grandi aspettative per questo libro,,, l'ho iniziato dopo aver letto la trilogia di shadow and bone e la duologia sui corvi ed ero emozionata nel ritrovare tanti personaggi a cui ero affezionata, soprattutto Nikolai. Mi ha deluso la caratterizzazione dei protagonisti, non molto coerente con quanto letto precedentemente e soprattutto ho trovato la trama una forzatura

Tre anni dopo gli eventi di "Rovina e Ascesa" e mesi dopo gli eventi de "Il Regno Corrotto", Nikolai, Zoya e Nina hanno nuove missioni. Nikolai deve conquistare il trono di famiglia ma la gente non si fida di un re bastardo. Inoltre, gli avvenimenti del passato gli hanno letteralmente lasciato un demone interiore che sta prendendo il sopravvento. Zoya deve rafforzare l'esercito per conto del suo re dato che per ora Ravka non è governata da nessuno e gli assedi sono in agguato. Nina agisce al nord, a Fjerda, per sconfiggere il nemico dall'interno. Quindi, date le premesse, ci si aspetta un libro su Nikolai. Invece no. Qui abbiamo un mix di molti avvenimenti insieme che danno vita a una svolta di trama non troppo inaspettata ma nemmeno gradita. Mi sono piaciuti i dialoghi che caratterizzano ancora ognuno, mi è piaciuto tutto l'aspetto religioso, ma non basta. La Bardugo per me risulta sempre scorrevole e che intrattiene ma qui mi ha deluso. 7/10 che sarebbe un 7- - -
