**Shade is where it all began. This is a collection of short stories that take place in the years and months before Prey. Silent Night Dr. Kenzo Kimura is struggling to survive in this new world. He has plenty to eat, he has a roof over his head, and he has a prestigious position in this new society. But he is also expected to stay in line and follow even the most unthinkable orders. He would gladly give it all up for Lori, but she barely knows he exists.
